Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Painted pine blanket boxes were common domestic storage containers throughout Europe and North America during the 18th and 19th centuries. Frequently created as marriage or dower chests, these pieces were customized with painted names, initials, and dates to commemorate significant family milestones.

Traditional pine coffers were constructed using hand-cut dovetail joints at the corners for structural strength. They featured solid pine timber boards, forged iron strap hinges, side carrying handles, and hand-applied iron lock plates and bracket reinforcements.

Authentic period trunks exhibit hand-cut joinery, irregular ironwork with signs of hand-forging, and natural paint wear around areas of frequent contact such as the handles and lid edges. Painted inscriptions typically show natural craquelure and surface patination consistent with age.

A painted blanket box functions effectively as a coffee table in a living room, extra storage at the foot of a bed, or a hallway accent piece. The graphic quality of painted folk lettering provides visual contrast alongside contemporary minimalist furniture.

Maintain painted pine furniture by dusting regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and keeping the item away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Avoid chemical solvents or aggressive polishing compounds, applying a neutral microcrystalline wax sparingly to protect the historical painted surface.
