Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This is an original Art Deco display cabinet from 1930, made in warm honey tone walnut and burr walnut veneer with glass. The cabinet has an octagonal frame enclosing glazed double doors with narrow vertical wooden handles, opening to reveal interior glass shelves, and sits on a stepped plinth base incorporating a central drawer. The structure stands 145 cm high, 103 cm wide and 28 cm deep, displaying prominent natural wood figuring across its polished surfaces. In a contemporary home, this imposing piece provides a decorative focal point in a living room, dining room or hallway to display glassware, ceramics or collectables behind glass. The substantial proportions and distinctive geometry suit an interior styled with clean lines, period character or vintage glamour, whilst the slim depth allows placement against walls in narrow circulation spaces or principal entertaining rooms.

FAQs

Art Deco furniture from the 1930s is characterised by bold geometric shapes, clean angular or curved silhouettes, and the prominent use of rich wood veneers such as walnut and maple.

Cabinets from this era were typically constructed using solid timber frames layered with decorative wood veneers, paired with sheet glass panels, interior glass shelving, and minimal metallic or wooden handles.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery, natural grain variations in the veneer, original glass panes, and distinctive geometric proportions characteristic of early 20th-century craftsmanship.

Position the cabinet as a focal piece against a modern neutral backdrop, allowing the rich wood grain and geometric outline to contrast with minimalist decor and curated glassware.

Dust the surfaces regularly with a soft microfibre cloth, apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain, and clean glass panels with a non-abrasive glass cleaner.
