Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Art Deco display cabinet dates from 1930 and follows a striking circular silhouette in warm brown walnut. The exterior displays rich grain patterns, complemented by a distinctive chevron veneer on the half-circular plinth base and slender vertical mouldings framing the two central glazed doors. Small metal fastening hardware sits on the outer edges of the frame, while interior glass shelves provide storage visible through the glazed panels. Measuring 132 cm high, 102 cm wide, and 28 cm deep, the cabinet is designed to stand on the floor against a wall or in an alcove. Today, this piece serves as a functional display unit for living rooms, dining rooms, or hallways to showcase collections, porcelain, or glassware. The restored showroom condition offers a practical focal point for modern interiors that value geometric shapes and mid-century design. The compact depth allows placement in narrow circulation spaces or smaller reception rooms without dominating the floor area.

FAQs

Art Deco display cabinets from the 1930s are characterised by bold geometric forms, circular silhouettes, and polished wood veneers such as walnut. They prioritise clean lines, balanced proportions, and functional glass paneling to display collectibles.

Craftsmen during this period predominantly used timber frameworks veneered with figured woods like walnut, mahogany, or burr maple, paired with clear sheet glass and minimalist metal hardware such as brass or chrome handles.

Authentic pieces feature traditional joinery, natural grain variations across matched veneers, original metal hinges, and authentic age marks on interior shelves or timber backings.

Place the cabinet as a focal point against a neutral or dark wall to accentuate its round geometry, ensuring surrounding furniture maintains clean, uncluttered lines.

Dust the wood surface regularly with a soft cloth and apply clear beeswax polish periodically along the grain. Clean glass panels using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with glass cleaner, avoiding contact with polished wood edges.
