This Art Nouveau period display cabinet dates to 1910 and uses dark brown mahogany with brass hardware, leaded stained glass, and floral marquetry inlays of stylised flowers and leaves. The dark wood has a polished finish, and the cabinet stands on square forelegs with spreading feet, featuring outswept cresting, an open niche with a bevelled arched rectangular mirror, central glazed doors above a lower niche, and flanking panel doors. Additional visible details include brass drop handles on the central doors, brass drop ring handles on the lower side cabinet doors, linear inlaid stringing, and curved whiplash framing lines around the glazed top sections. The piece measures 219 cm high, 144.5 cm wide, and 40.5 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this large display unit serves in a dining room or living space to store and display tableware, glassware, books, or decorative objects. The lower cabinets and central open niche provide enclosed storage and display surfaces, while the upper glazed sections protect items behind leaded glass panels. The cabinet requires a substantial wall space in a principal room to accommodate its height and width.

Art Nouveau display cabinets are characterised by organic, flowing lines, stylised botanical motifs, and sinuous curves inspired by natural forms. Popularised between 1890 and 1910, these pieces frequently feature leaded glass panels, decorative marquetry, and slender timber proportions.

Cabinetmakers during the Art Nouveau period predominantly utilised fine hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, and oak. Construction often integrated decorative marquetry using exotic wood inlays, leaded glass glazing, and cast brass or bronze hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit characteristic whiplash curves, asymmetrical floral inlays, and period-correct joinery such as hand-cut dovetails. Original leaded glass panels, solid timber backboards, and period brass fitments also assist in identifying authentic construction.

Positioning the cabinet against neutral walls allows the intricate woodwork and leaded glass details to serve as a visual focal point. Displaying curated ceramics, glassware, or books within the glass sections creates a refined aesthetic in a dining room or living space.

Dust timber surfaces regularly using a clean microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly along the grain to preserve the original finish. Keep the cabinet clear of direct sunlight and extreme moisture variations to prevent wood movement or damage to the glass panels.
