Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This set of four French Provincial dining chairs dates from 1880. Formed from oak, the timber displays a warm brown tone with visible grain and texture. Each chair features a ladderback design composed of three wavy horizontal slats beneath a carved floral top rail. The seats are fitted with woven rush inserts, presenting a natural straw palette. Supported by cabriole front legs, the chairs exhibit shaped aprons on the lower frame. Measuring 91 cm high, 43 cm wide, 38 cm deep, with a 46 cm seat height, these rustic farmhouse seats suit a country kitchen or dining room. The matching quartet provides practical rustic seating for daily family meals or informal gatherings around a timber dining table.

Keep rush seats clean by gentle vacuuming and occasionally misting with water to prevent the fibres from drying out, while preserving the oak frame with natural beeswax polish.

Pair rustic oak chairs with contemporary zinc, marble, or minimalist wooden dining tables to create a balanced contrast between warm, traditional texture and modern design.

Look for hand-carved motifs along the top rail, serpentine ladderback splats, subtle asymmetry in hand-hewn wood, peg construction, and natural wear or patination on the oak frame and rush seat.

These chairs are predominantly constructed from solid native timbers, such as oak or chestnut, paired with hand-woven natural rush or straw seats and wooden peg joinery.

French Provincial furniture originated in the 18th century, crafted by provincial cabinetmakers who adapted ornate Parisian styles into simpler, more practical designs for country homes using native hardwoods like oak and fruitwood.
