This pair of Damascus Moorish armchairs originates from 1920 in the Moorish Revival style. The construction employs walnut, bone, mother-of-pearl, ebony, olive, and pine, presenting a warm brown colour with intricate geometric marquetry and bone inlay across all four sides. Notable physical details include spindle backrests, stepped pediments, curved wooden armrests, and decorative cut-out aprons on the bases. The two chairs measure 80 cm high, 58.5 cm wide, and 47 cm deep. These armchairs suit placement as accent seating in a living room, study, or hallway, where they function as functional decorative pieces or corner chairs. The timber surfaces display a polished finish highlighting the varied mosaic wood veneers and inlaid elements.

Moorish Damascus furniture originated in Syria and North Africa, characterised by complex geometric parquetry, micro-mosaic marquetry, and mother-of-pearl or bone inlays set into dense hardwoods such as walnut.

Traditional construction relies on walnut or fruitwood frames decorated with hand-cut bone, mother-of-pearl shell, ebony, and contrasting timber veneers arranged in precise geometric patterns.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-carved joinery, natural variations in the bone or shell inlay, minor irregularities in the geometric mosaic, and historical wear along structural joints and lower stretchers.

These decorative chairs work effectively as focal accent pieces in neutral minimalist spaces, eclectic maximalist living rooms, or formal entryways to contrast modern architecture with intricate geometric texture.

Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and high humidity to prevent timber movement. Dust gently with a dry, soft microfiber cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners or water on delicate inlay work.
