17th Century High Back Oak Armchair

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Tom Scott Antiques

Very good example of a rare 17th century Charles II high back carved oak armchair, fireside, dining carver or hall chair.

Beautifully carved and in great detail, long sweeping scroll arms and an upholstered seat, supported on a turned frame with a further carved panel.

Originally, this armchair would have had a cane seat, so at some point this has been replaced with the cushioned upholstered seat which is comfortable and if the current upholstery isn''t to your taste, it can be reupholstered for you in your own fabric.

Very decorative and a great feature piece of seriously good early English antique furniture from the 17th century.

As you would expect with furniture of this age, there have been some alterations and restoration over the 350 years or so of life, but it is in good solid and very much useable condition.
