This Art Deco dressing table mirror originates from 1930 and follows the Chinese taste. The piece is constructed from walnut and burr walnut with a warm brown timber colour and features a stepped arch frame set upon a wooden swivel base with dual feet. The visible hardware includes pivoting joints on the sides that allow the glass to tilt. The surfaces display rich figuring in the veneer work, and the frame incorporates curved outer mouldings alongside shaped upright supports and a low horizontal stretcher rail joining the feet. Measuring 63 cm high, 64 cm wide, and 32 cm deep, the mirror functions as a tabletop accessory. Suitable placement within a modern home includes positioning on a bedroom dressing chest or atop a living room sideboard where the reflective glass and decorative wood grain enhance the surrounding interior space.

Art Deco mirrors are characterised by geometric silhouettes, stepped arched profiles, clean symmetrical lines, and polished wood veneers typical of the 1920s and 1930s design movement.

These mirrors were traditionally constructed using high-grade timber veneers such as burr walnut, mahogany, or oak over solid frames, fitted with silvered glass plates and brass pivoting hardware.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-applied wood veneers, original bevelled mirror edges, traditional mortise and tenon timber joinery, period brass pivot screws, and occasionally maker cartouches or stamps.

Place the mirror atop a contemporary sideboard, chest of drawers, or vanity table to create a focal point that introduces organic warmth and structured geometric lines to the space.

Maintain the timber frame by dusting regularly with a microfibre cloth and applying natural beeswax sparingly, while cleaning the glass surface with a damp cloth without allowing liquids to contact the wood veneer.
