A remarkable set of six Sheraton style mahogany shield-back dining chairs with a Royal history. The chairs have out-swept uprights within the shield shaped backs, carved with leafy ornament and a stylized sunburst below. The overstuffed seats are upholstered in a rich and luxurious red damask and they stand on elegant square tapering legs with spade feet. The condition is exactly as they came out of the house, including the dust. One chair shows signs of old repairs to the back where original components have been re-glued. (These repairs could easily be disguised with just a little dark wax).A unique opportunity to acquire a great set of chairs that were sat in by George V and Queen Mary.They are believed to have been in the same family since new.
