This George III mahogany dressing table mirror combines timber, glass, brass and boxwood elements in a warm brown tone. The rectangular swivel frame holds a bevelled glass plate between reeded uprights topped with gilt brass finials, and incorporates turned adjustment handles at the sides. Below the mirror, the stepped base contains twin drawers decorated with delicate boxwood stringing, fitted with small gilt brass knobs, and raised on ebonised bun feet. The timber exhibits rich natural patination and surface warmth from age. Practical dimensions of 58 cm high, 52 cm wide, and 25 cm deep make this piece suitable for placement atop a bedroom chest of drawers, a hallway console table, or a living room sideboard. It functions both as a traditional dressing accessory and as a classic decorative accent in an English Country House interior.

Originating in the 18th century, George III dressing table mirrors, historically known as toilet glasses, feature an adjustable rectangular or oval mirror supported on upright posts, mounted above a plinth base containing small drawers.

These mirrors were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, frequently accented with boxwood stringing, brass adjustment knobs, and hand-dovetailed drawer construction.

Authentic period examples feature hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, original silvered glass displaying age-appropriate oxidisation, and turned side screws or brass fittings to alter the frame tilt.

Positioning the mirror atop a chest of drawers, console table, or dressing surface introduces historical depth and functional storage to contemporary dressing spaces.

Clean the timber components using a dry lint-free cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish sparingly to maintain the original patina, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and moisture.
