This seventeenth-century English Jacobean side chair comes from the oak country house tradition, rendered in a dark brown timber finish with visible grain. The construction employs pegged joinery and a solid planked seat set between upright rear supports. A shaped crest rail crowns the top above a central pierced splat flanked by vertical wooden bars. Below the seat, the front legs are hand turned with decorative ring details, matched by a turned front stretcher spanning the base. Evidence of age includes surface marks, texturing in the wood grain, and minor historical timber loss from treated woodworm. The item stands 100 cm high, 45 cm wide, and 41 cm deep.
