A Regency pier mirror is an architectural wall mirror originally designed to hang on the pier wall space between windows, incorporating classical Greek and Roman design elements such as pilasters, friezes, and breakfront cornices.

These mirrors were constructed using timber frames covered in sculpted gesso, finished with genuine gold leaf water-gilding or oil-gilding, and fitted with early silvered glass plates.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-carved wood or molded gesso details, natural wear revealing red or grey bole beneath the gilding, hand-hewn backboards, and characteristic oxidisation or foxing on the glass plate.
