Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in Second Empire France, Napoleon III tub chairsoften referred to as fauteuils crapaudare defined by their compact proportions, low seat height, and rounded, enveloping backrests designed for informal comfort.

These chairs were constructed using solid beech or oak internal frames, stuffed with traditional horsehair and fibre padding, and supported by coil springs over jute webbing, finished with turned wooden legs that were frequently ebonised or stained dark.

Authentic period examples feature hand-turned front legs, splayed rear legs, traditional hand-tied coil spring construction, and heavy timber framing beneath the fixed upholstery layer.

Tub chairs work well as a symmetrical pair opposite a sofa, within a bedroom corner, or placed in a reading nook to soften geometric architectural lines with their organic, curved silhouettes.

Vacuum the fabric gently using a soft brush attachment, avoid placement in direct sunlight to prevent timber drying and fabric fading, and consult a specialist conservator for traditional frame or spring repairs.
