Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Four late Victorian farmhouse Windsor kitchen armchairs from 1900 present a rustic country style in warm brown elm, beech, and ash timbers. Each armchair exhibits a curved top rail, a spindle back, a shaped saddle seat, and turned legs with connecting stretchers, showing visible grain variations across the wood surfaces and distinct wear on the armrests. The timber shows differing tones ranging from rich reddish-brown to darker aged patinas across the set. These armchairs fit comfortably around a kitchen table or function as individual seating pieces in a living room, hallway, or study. Their robust wooden construction provides practical daily use while introducing traditional nineteenth-century character into domestic interiors. The dimensions span widths from 56 cm to 67 cm, heights from 107 cm to 113 cm, and depths around 64 cm for the larger pieces.

FAQs

A Windsor chair is a traditional style of wooden seating characterised by a solid wooden seat into which the chair legs and backrest spindles are secured using round tenon joints, rather than standard frame construction.

Victorian Windsor chairs were typically crafted using a combination of English timber, including elm for the shaped saddle seats, ash or beech for the bentwood steam-formed bows, and turned beech or oak for the legs and spindles.

Authentic antique Windsor chairs feature hand-shaped saddle seats, hand-turned legs showing subtle structural irregularities, wedged tenon joints visible on the seat surface, and authentic wear patterns on the stretchers and armrests.

Pair these traditional armchairs with a scrubbed pine or contemporary oak dining table to add visual warmth and historic character, or place individual carvers as accent seating in a hallway, study, or corner.

Clean the timber surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, apply a high-quality natural beeswax polish once or twice a year, and position the chairs away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage or joint movement.
