This Gothic Revival display cabinet dates from 1800 and is constructed from mahogany with a warm brown timber colour, clear glass panels, and brass hardware. The upper section comprises a glazed door with pointed arch glazing bars, flanked by narrow arched side lights and further glazed panels at the sides, all topped by corner finials and quatrefoil cut-outs in the wooden tracery. Below the display area sits a single long drawer fitted with a central brass escutcheon and a drop handle, mounted on a stand with square tapered legs. The interior is lined with old red velvet fabric. The piece measures 153 cm high, 74 cm wide, and 49 cm deep. In a modern interior, this cabinet serves as a distinctive display piece in a living room, study, or hallway for showcasing curated collections, books, or decorative objects. The compact footprint on slender legs allows it to fit comfortably into both traditional and eclectic room schemes without overwhelming the floor space, while the glazed doors protect contents from dust while maintaining full visibility from the outside.

Gothic Revival furniture incorporates architectural elements inspired by medieval Europe, including pointed lancet arches, tracery, quatrefoils, and decorative finials.

Craftsmen predominantly utilized solid mahogany, oak, or walnut, fitted with glass panelling and cast brass handles, hinges, or escutcheons.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joinery, period-correct brass hardware, hand-blown glass with natural waviness, and traditional timber finishing techniques.

Position the piece against a neutral wall to emphasize its distinctive architectural silhouette, using the glazed interior to store porcelain, books, or curated objects.

Dust surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, apply beeswax polish sparingly along the grain once or twice a year, and position the cabinet away from direct heat sources.
