Edwardian display cabinets, produced between 1901 and 1910, are characterised by lighter, more refined proportions than Victorian examples, frequently incorporating satinwood inlays, painted friezes, and glazed astragal doors inspired by 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs.

Cabinetmakers primarily used solid mahogany and rosewood veneers, often decorated with floral marquetry or inlaid banding, and fitted with float glass panes and original brass escutcheon locks.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joinery, period-correct float glass with subtle thickness variations, precision satinwood or painted inlay decoration, and original lock mechanisms.

Position the cabinet against a neutral backdrop to emphasize the timber tones, using the fabric-lined interior to present curated ceramics, glassware, or sculptural objects.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft microfibre cloth, apply natural beeswax along the grain twice per year, keep away from direct heat sources, and clean glass using a cloth lightly dampened with glass cleaner.
