An early 20th century Chippendale style display cabinet produced from dark brown mahogany with glass panels and brass hardware. The timber exhibits a rich tone and prominent grain, complemented by a frieze featuring an interlaced oval carving, a moulded top edge, and glazed side panels alongside a pair of astragal glazed doors with Gothic arched glazing bars. The interior contains two shelves against a fabric lining. Four cabriole legs terminate in carved ball and claw feet. Measuring 133.5 cm high, 94.5 cm wide, and 35 cm deep, this neat cabinet suits a dining room, living room, or hallway for exhibiting china, glass, and collections.

Originating in the eighteenth century from cabinetmaker Thomas Chippendale, this style features dark timber such as mahogany, intricate carving, cabriole legs, ball-and-claw feet, and decorative astragal glazing.

Traditional cabinets utilise solid or veneered mahogany, glass panes, brass fittings, and hand-cut joinery such as mortise and tenon framing.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved detailing, slight irregularities in period glass, natural timber patination, hand-cut dovetail joints, and historical wear on the feet and base.

Position the cabinet against a neutral wall to highlight the dark wood, and display curated ceramic, glass, or book collections inside to balance traditional craftsmanship with contemporary styling.

Keep the cabinet away from direct sunlight and heat sources, clean the glass with a soft microfibre cloth, and protect the timber using a high-quality beeswax polish applied along the wood grain.
