Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Chippendale Revival display cabinet dates from the Victorian period between 1890 and 1900. Made from dark brown mahogany, the piece stands on short tapered legs and features a pair of glass-fronted opening doors with ornate scrollwork wooden glazing bars. A vertical central panel displays carved foliage and swags, complemented by matching carved upper friezes and an ogee moulding at the top supported by carved side sconces. The hardware includes original brass fittings and handles. Inside, two fixed shelves retain their original material lining, while clear bevelled glass panels are set into the sides. Measuring 140 cm high, 127 cm wide, and 46 cm deep, the cabinet functions well in a living room, dining room, or hallway for displaying curated collections of porcelain, glassware, or books. The compact footprint makes it adaptable for placement against an interior wall in traditional or English country house interiors.

FAQs

Chippendale Revival furniture, popular in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, reinterprets eighteenth-century designs by Thomas Chippendale, incorporating intricate wood carving, decorative glazing bars, and mahogany construction.

Cabinets from this era were primarily constructed using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, fitted with clear glass panes, cast brass hardware, and interior wooden shelving.

Authentic late Victorian pieces feature hand-finished wood carvings, period-appropriate brass escutcheons, timber glazing bars, and signs of age-related oxidisation on interior surfaces.

Position the cabinet as a focal piece against a neutral wall, arranging modern ceramics, glassware, or curated books on the interior shelves to create contrast with the historic woodwork.

Dust mahogany surfaces regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply natural beeswax annually, while cleaning glass panes using a mild glass cleaner applied directly to a towel.
