Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A 19th-century rosewood cushion frame mirror is defined by its convex, rounded profile that gently slopes towards the reflective glass. Popular during the Regency and Victorian periods, these pieces feature rosewood veneers showcasing distinct grain patterns and mitred corner joints.

These mirrors were constructed using a softwood or oak carcass covered with thin veneers of rosewood. The reflective surface typically utilised mercury-gilded glass or early silvered glass set securely within the mitred frame moulding.

Authentic period pieces display hand-cut joinery, pine backboards with original fixing nails, and natural wood shrinkage along veneer seams. The original glass may exhibit mild foxing, light silvering degradation, or minor optical distortion characteristic of period plate manufacturing.

Position the mirror above a modern console table or fireplace mantel to create visual contrast between dark timber tones and neutral wall surfaces. The deep profile adds depth when hung in hallways, dining spaces, or cloakrooms.

Dust the timber frame regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a light coat of beeswax polish occasionally to protect the veneer. Avoid spray glass cleaners on the wood, and clean the mirror surface gently with a damp cloth to prevent moisture entering the frame edge.
