Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian Chinoiserie mirrors reflect the early 20th-century revival of European interpretations of East Asian artistic traditions. These pieces feature hand-painted figures, landscapes, and architectural elements on lacquered or painted wooden frames, often topped with ornate openwork cresting.

These mirrors were typically crafted from timber with a painted or lacquered surface, incorporating metallic paint or leaf decoration to emulate traditional japanning. The mirror glass often features bevelled edges and hand-finished backing frames typical of the era.

Authentic Edwardian pieces display natural signs of age on the painted surface, such as fine craquelure, along with hand-carved structural details and original backing boards secured with period fixings. The glass plate frequently exhibits minor oxidisation or light foxing consistent with early 20th-century manufacture.

Position the mirror above a sideboard, console table, or fireplace mantelpiece to create a central focal point that bridges classic detailing with contemporary furniture. The vibrant blue and gold tones complement neutral wall colours and dark timber panelling alike.

Dust the wooden frame regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth, avoiding commercial chemical polishes or water that could damage the painted finish. Clean the glass plate carefully by applying glass cleaner to a cloth rather than spraying directly onto the mirror.
