Really interesting little chair in very original condition. It’s made from Beech but it’s been polished to look like Rosewood, which has nicely worn and faded, giving a lovely rich patina.
Typical of the Regency period, it has a rope twist back rail, whilst the wide central back rail has it’s original circular brass plaque and two smaller ones at either end. The centre one does display some use – it’s no longer perfectly round but it’s charming nonetheless.
The chair displays some lovely turnings with elegant curved and tapered front legs. The caned seat looks original – and to be honest is not in the best condition, it’s a bit fragile but it is still there, so we’d recommend that this is really a display piece and not suitable for everyday!
A lovely interesting collectable piece but maybe not that practical!
