Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III cheval mirror is a full-length dressing mirror suspended on swivel pivots between two vertical timber uprights. Originating in late 18th-century Britain, these mirrors typically feature mahogany frames, turned supports, urn finials, and splayed legs.

Georgian cheval mirrors were primarily crafted from solid and veneered mahogany, fitted with hand-blown silvered mirror glass, brass pivot screws, and brass castors for mobility.

Authentic period pieces display period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, original brass hardware with natural oxidisation, hand-planed back panels, and mercury or early silvered glass exhibiting light foxing.

Position the mirror in a dressing room, bedroom corner, or spacious hallway to add vertical scale and reflect light. The deep tone of mahogany pairs well with neutral palettes, minimalist modern cabinetry, or textured wallpapers.

Dust the timber frame regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply beeswax sparingly along the grain to maintain the finish. Clean mirror glass with a damp cloth or specialized glass cleaner, avoiding contact with the timber edges.
