This pair of Regency hall and side chairs originates from England around 1815. Constructed from ebonised wood and cane with brass and gold leaf, the pieces present an exuberant high Regency design finished in black and gold. The curved top rail holds an ornate gilt brass handle, a lion's mask, lyre mounts, and large flower head rosettes above shaped supports with parcel gilt mouldings. Dished cane seats feature unusual side hand rails and a curved front rail with butterfly and anthemium mounts. Eccentric shaped front legs display parcel gilt mouldings and terminate in ball feet, while the rear uses sabre legs. The items measure 88.9 cm high, 50.8 cm wide, and 53.3 cm deep. Suitable for placement in a hallway or alongside a living room wall, these seats function well for display or occasional sitting within a traditional interior scheme.

Regency ebonised hall chairs originate from early nineteenth-century Britain and feature darkened wood finishes resembling ebony, often highlighted with gilt detailing, classical motifs, and woven cane seats.

These chairs were constructed from hardwoods such as beech or fruitwood that were ebonised using stain or paint, then accented with brass fittings, gold leaf detailing, and hand-woven cane seats.

Authentic Regency examples display period construction traits, including hand-carved joinery, original woven cane work, natural surface wear on the gilding, and classical shapes like sabre legs and tablet top rails.

Their dark finish and architectural silhouette allow them to function as sculptural accent seating in modern entryways, corridors, or placed alongside contemporary dining arrangements.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, keeping the cane hydrated, and shielding the gilt work from direct sunlight and extreme humidity.
