A good example of a late 17th Century English oak ''back stool'' chair. It has a traditional planked seat and the legs are joined by stretchers. It has a slatted back with barley twist supports and an ornately carved and shaped crest rail and front stretcher.It has a wonderful rich colour and patination. There are some historic repairs to the bottom of the legs and the seat but nothing untoward and it is a solid and sturdy chair. There are various signs of age and use and some knocks and marks here and there but no major damages and it displays beautifully.The chair stands approximately 42'' (107cm) high, the seat is 17'' (43cm) wide, 14 1/2'' (37cm) deep and 16'' (41cm) high.The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions just ask.
