A Chippendale Style, George 111 Elm Elbow Chair with Drop-In Seat c1800.

A fine quality George 111 elm, elbow arm or reading chair of graceful and elegant proportions, exquisite design, a Chippendale style featuring elements traditional of the period with shaped top rail and splat, original drop-in seat, later upholstered in the 20th century with an attractive floral cotton fabric.

A deep and wide seat makes this an ideal desk or reading chair, with excellent workshop quality construction, elegant elbow, crook arms with scroll ends square leg supports. A strong presence and robust chair in mostly excellent structural and cosmetic condition, sits well with no structural defects, minimal and minor historic repairs to an arm but negligible, a good even colour snd rich patina.
