Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the Regency era.

A handsome Regency elbow chair of excellent design and original painted decoration to the beech frame with a deep and wide circular caned seat, believed also to be original.
The underside of the frame does not show a makers stamp, possibly by the late 18th to 19th century London workshop of John Gee, tbc, or other.

A great surviving chair in what presents as mostly original condition, showing evidence of timeworn use and some wear to the arms and running if the gilt-paint decoration in some obvious areas which adds authenticity and character.

The chair is going through our workshop to tighten any loose joints, otherwise an original and stable chair that sits well, a very fine example.
A handsome antique chair of versatile use and considerable decorative appeal for a day or bedroom, hall or landing, dressing room or kitchen dayroom etc.., an interior design chair that can enhance a classic or contemporary space.
