Description:

?A fine quality English pair of Victorian antique small Mahogany bedside tables, with later adapted legs, constructed from figured mahogany, with two drawers and small proportions, circa 1840, in excellent condition. This small Victorian pair of bedside cabinets feature flat tops with a round-edged moulded top. The frames comprise two elegant figured mahogany drawers, retaining the original knobs. The ash drawer linings are constructed with hand-dovetailed joints. The lower frame is finished with a matching round moulded frieze. The Victorian small Mahogany bedside tables are raised on four later elegant ring-turned “bamboo” shaped legs, which are united by a ring-turned cross stretchers. Ideal for use as a pair period bedsides or pair of lamp tables in any small room. The frames and legs are constructed from solid mahogany. At this time, England was importing the best quality mahogany from the British colonies.

Condition Report:

The bedsides have been adapted from a Victorian dressing table. The Victorian bedside tables have been cleaned and French polished by hand, to a professional standard, in our workshop. Therefore, the colour and patination of mahogany is of an excellent standard. Nominal old use marks to the tops, leading edges and inside the drawers, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The frames are constructed of top-quality solid mahogany and drawer fronts from figured mahogany; which gives a superb colour and patination. The Victorian tables are solid in joint and ready to use. This pair of mahogany nightstands are solid in joint, they do not wobble and are ready to use.
