Edwardian furniture, spanning the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, typically combines lighter proportions and simpler lines than heavy Victorian pieces, often drawing inspiration from 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from timbers such as mahogany, satinwood, and walnut, frequently featuring delicate stringing, marquetry inlay, and traditional mortise and tenon joinery.

Authenticity is assessed by examining timber grain, hand-cut dovetails where applicable, original backboards, cast brass fittings, and signs of period-appropriate wear and oxidisation on the mirror plate.

A freestanding mirror serves as both a functional dressing glass and a decorative element, pairing well with neutral bedroom walls to reflect natural light and add traditional character to contemporary spaces.

Maintain the piece by keeping it away from direct sunlight and fluctuating humidity levels. Clean the wooden frame with a soft, dry cloth and use ammonia-free glass cleaner applied to a cloth rather than directly onto the mirror.
