Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Country kitchen armchairs from the early 20th century represent traditional vernacular furniture crafted for everyday domestic use. These pieces feature turned legs, contoured solid seats, and vertical back spindles inspired by classic Windsor and provincial carver designs.

Regional hardwoods such as elm, beech, ash, and oak were predominantly used due to their structural strength and availability. Construction relied on traditional timber joinery, including wedged mortise and tenon joints, turned uprights, and solid carved seat bases.

Authentic period pieces exhibit signs of natural wear, such as smooth erosion on foot stretchers, minor timber shrinkage along grain lines, and hand-lathed variation in turned components. Original surfaces typically display a soft, accumulated patina rather than a uniform modern topcoat.

Traditional wooden armchairs function effectively as accent seating in contemporary living rooms, bedrooms, or dining spaces. Pairing timber chairs with modern desks, natural textiles, or clean-lined interiors creates a balanced contrast between historic craft and modern design.

Dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying natural beeswax polish helps protect the timber finish. Positioning seating away from direct heat radiators and damp environments prevents the wood from warping, shrinking, or loosening at the joints.
