A 19th Century Hand Painted Empire Chair, Possibly Swedish.
An exquisite 19th century empire chair, later hand painted around early 19th century, probably Swedish and comfortably described as North European Empire chair of elegant proportions, design and decoration.
The buttermilk painted surface has a timeworn elegance with a craquelure, adding to authenticity and character, with a hand painted floral theme decoration to areas, a very attractive piece.
A well constructed elbow arm chair with a neoclassical back rest, influences typical of the regency period.
Fitted with a silk upholstered seat and arms which has a few marks, original horse hair beneath.., we expect most buyers to probably want to upholster.
A versatile and functional chair of considerable decorative appeal, an interior design piece that can enhance a classic or contemporary space, whether an entrance hall, drawing room, library-desk chair, dressing room, dayrooms or bedrooms, a wonderful thing.
