Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Haberdashery button boxes were designed for retail use in 19th and early 20th-century draperies and tailor shops. They held and displayed specific sizes and styles of buttons, allowing shopkeepers to organise stock efficiently on the counter while displaying product details via printed header labels.

These boxes were predominantly crafted from hardwoods such as mahogany, pine, or oak, often finished with spirit varnish or French polish. Labels were lithograph-printed on heavy paper or card, and internal dividers were made from thinner softwood partitions.

Authentic pieces generally display period-accurate typography on printed labels, evidence of hand-cut dovetail or finger joints, natural patina from retail use, and wear around sliding lids or compartment edges consistent with repetitive hand movement.

A haberdashery box makes a functional desk organiser for stationary, paper clips, and small office accessories. It can also be placed on a bookshelf or sideboard as a textured, historic focal point in a curated vignette.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a beeswax polish sparingly along the timber surfaces once or twice a year. Keep the item away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent the wood from warping and the printed paper label from fading.
