A Georgian period, solid elm corner elbow armchair, dating from the late C18th (George III). This well figured elm framed armchair features a curved back rest, over broad continuous arm rail with scrolled ends, three turned supports separated by twin pierced back splats. Drop in seat, upholstered in brown velvet, raised on square legs supported by stretchers.
A charming country chair. Some flaws, but full of character and with excellent polish and patina. Ready for use.

Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This chair is in a reasonably good and original condition commensurate with its age. Some marks and blemishes. Some old and extinct worm holes, typical of elm antique furniture, that does not affect the sturdiness of the chair in any way, and now treated as way of p
...recaution. There is damage to the front knee, though the joint is secure. It could be filled but it would take away from the chairs charm. Repairs to the bottom of both splat saddles, though these are well polished in. There is lots of aged old wear. The patina is excellent, good colour, and very pleasing wax polish. The seat is reasonable and the velvet is quite clean. Cleaned and waxed. Very serviceable and ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
