Matching Pair Austrian / Hungarian Folk Chairs. Circa 1880.

Description

Beautiful matching pair KUK "Kaiserlich und Königlich", ie "Imperial and Royal" Folk Chairs in walnut. Circa 1880 (possibly earlier and most likely unique as a pair).

Tradition simple pegged construction and sturdy for this type of chair. Antique walnut patina niceley finished with smooth rounded edges. Possible ''Masonic" or "KUK", superbly carved with symbology and delicately scripted. This abbreviation was used for state affiliations in the Austrian Empire.

Minor variation in dimensions between the two.
