Pair of mid C19th French carved gilt-wood salon armchairs in the C18th Louis XVI style .

Pair of gilt-wood armchairs raised on turned and ‘stop-fluted’ forelegs with carved block corners , having carved and swept arms and carved cresting detail to the frames of the ovoid backs . The rear supports of corresponding design.

The serpentine outline front rail with central carved detail , the seats and backs with close-nailed stud detailing , having been recently upholstered in a vibrant printed floral linen fabric.

In excellent, strong condition with only minor atmospheric losses and chips to the gilding and areas of wear showing the red gesso or bole ground beneath the gilding , which could be restored if required , inclusive of price .
