Circa 1870. A quality mid Victorian carved and gilded wood and gesso overmantel mirror. The shaped arch top surmounted by a pierced scalloped shell entwined in a circle with foliate carving above. The pediment with various types of carving and gesso, the front shaped in the form of a gentle arch, the uprights surmounted by a pair of carved and gilded urns. The frame contains its original mirror, which is in excellent condition, the sides of the mirror are in the form of a pair of columns with foliate capitals, fluted and reeded, finishing on a rectangular gilded base with foliate carving to the sides, the base with moulding, gilding and finishing on an enclosed plinth. The mirror has excellent colour and patination.
