Harlequin Set of Eight Mid 19th Century Ash and Elm Wheelback Windsor Chairs of Superb Patina

A good harlequin set of eight mid 19th century (circa 1830) ash and elm wheelback Windsor chairs of superb patina, from the Thames Valley region.

This set of chairs consist of an ash hoop back with scribed edge and central pierced splat with wheel design to the centre, spindles to either side leading down to well figured solid elm seats.

The chairs are supported by ash turned legs to the front and back, joined by a turned H stretcher.

Similar examples can be found in the book: 'The English Regional Chair' by Bernard D Cotton pages 57-60.

This set of chairs are in very good condition for age, are of stable construction and can go straight into a home.

Seat height: 17'' / 43cm
