Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Shield-shaped frames gained popularity during the late 18th century under George Hepplewhite and saw revived interest during the Edwardian period. Adjustable swing-arm mechanisms made from tubular brass or copper were added in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to serve as practical shaving and grooming aids.

These pieces typically combine dark hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood for the mirror frame, paired with cast brass mounts, copper tubing, and silvered glass mirror plates.

Authentic period examples exhibit natural oxidisation on copper and brass elements, original slot-head steel or brass screws, hand-cut joinery around the timber frame, and slight silvering age spots on the mirror glass.

Mount the mirror onto a narrow wall space, inside a dressing room, or above a pedestal basin in a cloakroom to add historic character and functional metallic accents.

Clean timber frames using natural beeswax polish applied with a microfibre cloth. Metal fittings can be gently wiped down to preserve patina, while glass surfaces should be cleaned with a lint-free cloth without soaking the backing.
