We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. Howard and Sons armchairs are renowned for their deep, sprung seats, low profiles, and exceptional comfort, originating from the Victorian era as pioneering pieces of lounge furniture.

Authentic period armchairs typically feature a beechwood frame, complex coil-sprung systems lashed with twine, horsehair stuffing, and traditional calico or patterned upholstery.

Authenticity is usually confirmed by stamped brass castors, numbered legs, manufacturer stamps on the webbing or lining, and specific traditional stitching techniques.

Pair the piece with clean architectural lines, minimalist lighting, and contemporary side tables to create a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Protect the fabric from direct sunlight to prevent fading, vacuum gently using a low-suction attachment, and consult a professional restorer for structural repairs.
