Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These Victorian wall mirrors come as a pair, designed in a decorative Victorian style with cast brass frames. The metallic surfaces display silver and gold tones, complemented by thick bevelled glass plates. Ornate acanthus scrollwork frames surround the central glass panels, which are topped by detailed classical mask crests and bordered by fine beadwork mouldings. Each piece measures 41 cm high, 22 cm wide, and 2 cm deep. Suitable for placement above a sideboard in a living room, dining room, or hallway, these mirrors add traditional character and reflect light to enhance interior spaces. Their intricate cast metal construction and classical detailing suit period-style homes and traditional interior schemes.

FAQs

Victorian brass mirrors often feature elaborate Rococo or Renaissance Revival styling, incorporating intricate scrollwork, acanthus leaves, and classical mask cresting.

These pieces were typically cast from solid brass or bronze, sometimes finished with silver plating or gilding, and fitted with heavy bevelled plate glass.

Authentic period examples usually display signs of hand-finishing, natural oxidation or tarnish in the crevices, and weight consistent with heavy cast metal rather than modern alloys.

Mounting them symmetrically on either side of a chimneypiece or positioning them above a sideboard creates balanced focus while enhancing ambient light reflection.

Dust the metal frame regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, avoid abrasive chemical polishes that strip historical patination, and clean the glass plate using a slightly damp cloth.
