This nineteenth-century Victorian overmantel mirror is an English country house piece constructed from giltwood, gesso, and glass. The gold coloured frame has an arched top with carved rococo cresting, fluted side mouldings, and decorative scrolled base feet with carved leaf details at the bottom corners. It contains an ornate pierced central carving at the apex of the frame, an original mirror plate, and original timber backboards visible on the rear structure. The piece measures 182 cm high, 140 cm wide, and 8 cm deep. In a modern home, this mirror is intended for placement directly above a living room or drawing room mantelpiece.
