The Regency style, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1830, is characterised by classical symmetry, heavily influenced by Greek, Roman, and Egyptian revival motifs, frequently utilising dark woods like mahogany and rosewood.

Regency armchairs were typically constructed from solid mahogany or other dense hardwoods, featuring hand-carved details, traditional joinery, horsehair stuffing for upholstery, and often finished with brass castors.

Authentication involves examining the timber grain, hand-cut joinery marks, wear patterns on the brass hardware, hand-applied brass tacks, and the specific Regency architectural motifs characteristic of early 19th-century cabinet making.

A Regency leather armchair serves as a strong focal point in contemporary spaces when paired with minimalist architecture, neutral walls, and modern lighting to create a balanced contrast between old and new.

Antique leather requires regular dusting with a soft cloth and periodic treatment with specialist leather balms or waxes to prevent drying and cracking, whilst avoiding direct sunlight and excessive heat sources.
