Convex mirrors, often known as bankers or eye mirrors, gained popularity in Northern Europe during the medieval and Renaissance periods for security and wide-angle room visibility.

Traditional frames are typically constructed from cast or spun brass, gilded wood, or composition material, housing a curved glass plate designed to reflect a panoramic view.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the backing boards, foxing or oxidisation on the mirrored glass, frame construction methods, and period-appropriate metallurgical characteristics.

A convex mirror works effectively as a focal point on a narrow wall space, reflecting light and adding depth to both contemporary and traditional rooms.

Clean the glass with a lint-free cloth and mild glass cleaner, avoiding harsh chemicals on the brass frame to preserve its natural patina.
