Windsor chairs originated in England during the early 18th century, evolving from vernacular furniture traditions where spindles were inserted directly into a solid wooden seat.

Authentic chairs typically feature a combination of native timbers, utilising yew or elm for the sculpted seat, ash or beech for the bentwood bows and spindles, and fruitwood or elm for the legs.

Authenticity is determined by examining tool marks, hand-turned components, timber shrinkage, peg construction, and the distinctive figuring and colouration of aged wood.

This piece can be integrated as a statement seat in a minimalist study, placed beside a contemporary fireplace, or used to anchor a transitional dining space.

Maintain the piece by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a soft cloth, and occasionally applying microcrystalline wax to nourish the finish.
