Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian Sheraton Revival two-part corner cabinet dates from around 1900. Built from mahogany and satinwood, the tall wooden piece has a warm brown colour scheme with detailed botanical marquetry inlay, scrollwork, and contrasting boxwood banding. The top section carries a swan-neck pediment with central foliate decoration above geometric astragal-glazed doors, while the lower section features an upright door displaying a central vase motif flanked by leafy scrolls. The entire structure stands upon a moulded base supported by shaped bracket feet, showing distinct vertical lines and polished wood surfaces throughout. Measuring 206 cm high, 67 cm wide, and 20 cm deep, this refined furniture piece provides practical storage and display space for domestic interiors. It fits neatly into unused corner spaces within a traditional dining room, living area, or hallway to hold glassware, books, or decorative items, bringing an English country house aesthetic to everyday home organization.

FAQs

Sheraton style furniture, originating in late eighteenth-century England, is defined by delicate proportions, straight lines, refined marquetry or parquetry inlays, and classical motifs such as urns and floral swags.

These cabinets are typically constructed using mahogany or satinwood as the primary timber, with contrasting exotic wood veneers like boxwood, rosewood, or ebony forming the decorative marquetry and inlay patterns.

Authentic pieces feature hand-sawn veneers, irregular dovetail joints on drawers, signs of natural timber shrinkage over time, and hand-cut astragal glazing bars holding individual glass panes.

Placing a corner cabinet in an underutilised angle maximises floor space while adding vertical height, making it ideal for displaying glass or ceramics against neutral, contemporary wall backdrops.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or fading, dust regularly with a dry soft cloth, and apply a high-quality beeswax sparingly once or twice a year.
