Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian armchair exemplifies early twentieth-century seating design, measuring 73 cm wide by 73 cm deep. The piece is upholstered throughout in a sage green patterned damask fabric featuring intricate floral and foliate motifs, complemented by matching braided piping along the seams. The frame stands on square tapered mahogany legs finished with brass castors at the base, and includes a well-fitted loose seat cushion. Ideal for incorporation into a traditional English country house interior, this comfortable chair provides practical occasional seating for a living room, study, or bedroom. The combination of tactile fabric and sturdy wooden supports makes it a functional addition to any home requiring classic period character.

FAQs

Edwardian armchairs, produced between 1901 and 1910, typically feature lighter frame construction than earlier Victorian examples, incorporating clean tapered legs, refined proportions, and deep upholstery tailored for domestic comfort.

Frames were predominantly crafted from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or beech, fitted with steel coil springs, natural hair stuffing, and supported by tapered or turned legs with brass castors.

Authentic pieces frequently display original brass castors stamped with maker marks, traditional webbed and hand-stitched spring construction beneath the seat, and timber legs showing genuine age-related patina.

Position the chair alongside contemporary floor lamps, minimalist neutral sofas, or modern side tables to create a balanced dialogue between historical framing and modern textiles.

Keep the timber frame away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying, vacuum upholstery carefully with a soft brush attachment, and wax timber legs periodically with natural beeswax.
