London City Antiques has dated these Mahogany Regency Dining Chairs to the 1920s.
This is an independent date report produced by Sellingantiques using its own proprietary system. The process uses the photographs shown on this page. The system is never told the date the dealer has declared. This report shows that the two dates corroborate.

The chairs feature gracefully curved rectangular top rails, beautifully decorated with fine incised scrollwork and delicate foliate motifs at either end. Beneath, the open backs are exceptionally attractive, incorporating finely shaped and reeded horizontal supports centred by carved circular rosettes. This distinctive design creates a wonderfully light and elegant appearance whilst retaining the richness and sophistication associated with traditional English mahogany furniture.

The chairs stand on slender, beautifully shaped sabre legs, their elegant outward sweep lending the set a particularly graceful silhouette. The two matching carver chairs feature wonderfully curved and reeded arms, supported by finely turned uprights, complementing the decorative detailing of the single chairs.

All eight chairs have generously upholstered seats, currently covered in a muted terracotta fabric with a subtle woven pattern and traditional studded edging. The upholstery provides a pleasing contrast against the rich mahogany frames and could easily be changed to complement a particular interior scheme.

A superb and highly decorative set of antique mahogany dining chairs, equally suited to a traditional dining room or a contemporary interior where their elegant lines and beautiful craftsmanship would provide a wonderful contrast. The inclusion of two matching carver armchairs makes this a particularly desirable and practical set for a formal dining table.

Condition Report
Very good antique condition with appropriate age-related wear, consistent with their age and use. The mahogany frames display a lovely colour and patina, with attractive detailing throughout.
