FAQs

The Regency style, spanning the early 19th century in Britain, draws heavily on classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian motifs, characterised by clean lines, classical proportions, and dark polished woods.

These chairs were traditionally crafted from native and exotic timbers such as beech, mahogany, and rosewood, often utilising joined construction, curved steam-bent elements, and hand-carved decorative splats.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-appropriate joinery techniques, hand-turned components, natural timber ageing, and traditional upholstery methods without modern staples or synthetic glues.

Pairing these historical pieces with a modern dining table creates a striking juxtaposition, blending historical craftsmanship with clean, minimalist contemporary aesthetics.

Keep wooden furniture out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources to prevent timber cracking, and nourish the surface periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
