Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Queen Anne style wall mirror dates from 1930 and is constructed from medium brown walnut timber with a clear glass plate. The upright frame has a scrolled cresting, an arched top set with a carved scallop shell motif, cutwork detailing, and a shaped apron at the base. The wood displays a warm polished finish with visible natural grain variations. Measuring 102 cm high by 49 cm wide, the mirror brings traditional English country house character to interior spaces. Today, this piece hangs effectively above a sideboard in a dining room, over a hall table in an entranceway, or above a mantelpiece in a living room. It functions well in traditional and transitional schemes, reflecting light and adding depth to compact areas while complementing other timber furnishings.

FAQs

Queen Anne style mirrors, originating in the early 18th century, are characterised by contoured frames, walnut veneers, arched crestings, and subtle carved motifs such as scallop shells.

These mirrors traditionally feature figured walnut veneers mounted onto pine or oak substrates, accompanied by bevelled or flat mirror plate glass.

Authentic period examples display hand-cut joinery, original glass with subtle foxing, and dark, aged oxidisation on the timber backboard.

Position the mirror above a contemporary sideboard or console table to create visual contrast between carved wood details and clean, modern lines.

Dust the timber frame regularly with a soft cloth and apply beeswax polish sparingly, avoiding contact between glass cleaning solvents and the wooden frame.
