The Regency style, spanning roughly from 1811 to 1830, draws heavy inspiration from classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian motifs, characterised by symmetry, architectural detailing, and refined ornamentation.

These mirrors are typically constructed from softwoods such as pine or gesso-coated hardwoods, finished with applied gold leaf using traditional water-gilding or oil-gilding techniques.

Authenticity is indicated by hand-carved wooden elements, genuine gold leaf showing natural wear and oxidisation, aged silvering on the glass plate, and hand-painted verre eglomise panels displaying period-correct pigments and crackle.

Placing a gilded antique mirror in a modern setting creates a striking focal point, reflecting natural light while contrasting clean, minimalist architectural lines with historical texture.

Dust gently with a dry, soft feather duster and avoid applying water, chemical cleaners, or polishes to the fragile gold leaf and historical glass surfaces.
