FAQs

The Regency style, spanning the late 18th to early 19th century, is characterised by classical symmetry, Greco-Roman architectural influences, and refined elegance, often featuring painted finishes and simulated exotic woods.

These pieces typically utilise native hardwoods such as beech or birch, which were meticulously painted and grained to imitate expensive timbers like rosewood, alongside hand-woven cane work for the seats.

Authenticity is determined by examining joinery methods such as hand-cut tenons, tool marks on the underside, the patina of the painted finish, and the tightness of the period cane weaving.

Pairing historical seating with a minimalist modern dining table creates a striking contrast that highlights the craftsmanship of the antique chairs while keeping the overall room feeling balanced and light.

Maintain caned seats by periodically wiping them with a damp cloth to keep the plant fibres hydrated and prevent snapping, and avoid placing them near direct heat sources or strong sunlight.
